Industrial Micro Systems -
FDC (930)
The model 930 Floppy Disk Controller
board was slight an upgrade of the IMS 400 and 430 FDC boards. The board was
used in their 5000 Series system.
The IMS FDC 930 board used the NEC 765 FDC
controller chip rather than the WD 179x series. The board could be configured
to work with 8" or 5" drives (Switch 1-6) and in single and double density. An on board 8257 DMA
controller provided for fast disk I/O. The board could control up to 4 drives.
The board had a jumper (JA) to be wired differently depending on the IMS
CPU board in the system so this board is probably not compatible with all early
S-100 CPU's and its unknown to me if its IEE 696 compatible. Stealing DMA cycles
on the bus is tricky!
The very limited manual for this board
can be obtained
here.
There is no schematic included but it if probably very closely
related to the one for the 400 series board
here.
